Testing Inktense pencils on fabric
I decided I would like to make some bags from canvas to hold Christmas presents for family and friends, but I want to personalize them. As a quick test today I stamped a lovely dahlia and butterfly design from Clarity Stamps, using Stazon Ink on the canvas, then I none to carefully coloured it with Inktense pencils using yellow first as the palest colour and used that everywhere except on the black bits. Instead of using just water I mixed half water and half Jacksons Silkscreen medium being careful to keep my paintbrush just damp as I didn't want any bleeding of the colour, and went over all the ink and could see it changing to a much brighter colour. I added each colour in turn doing the same thing and each layer dried really fast. A few bits that were too dark I went back over with a lighter colour after it was dry and it worked. The last thing I did was to iron it, then expecting a real mess I dunked it in a bowl of water and left it while I had a cup of tea. I dried it and ironed it again and here is the result, definitely colour fast, although I haven't tried it with soap yet in the washing machine.
